Every patient in Europe should have access to affordable, appropriate, accessible, available and adequate health care and social services. This is still not the case today and patients across the EU are reporting multiple barriers in accessing healthcare.

According to the UN Sustainable Goal on health, Members States have committed to achieving universal health coverage by 2030. We are calling on EU Institutions and Member States to overturn the current trends of short sighted decisions on investment in healthcare, and to make a real commitment to realising universal access for all by 2030.

The European Patients' Forum (EPF) has launched a one-year campaign on Universal Health Coverage to raise awareness about the barriers patients face in accessing healthcare and to propose key political steps, actions and recommendations that EU decision makers and member states need to take in order to achieve universal health coverage for all patients in the EU.

With our members, we ask EU policy makers and national governments to commit to ensuring universal access by 2030, as stated by the United Nations' SDG on Health.
