Community feedback from dog survey in the Eurobodalla

Dear fellow dog lovers. In April 2018, the Eurobodalla Shire Council asked the community to complete a feedback survey and hosted 12 drop-in sessions about proposed changes to dog exercise areas in Eurobodalla. Council were trying to further restrict dogs on some beaches - but I am very happy that dog owners have come out in force by giving enough feedback that we want MORE access to take our dogs to the beach - so council have reviewed their position in response to our feedback. That’s great, however, as council attempts to keep everybody happy, inevitably, there will be some losers and some beaches have been made totally prohibited (red zoned). If that’s happened at your favourite beach, remember that a draft Companion Animal Management Plan will be presented to councillors in late July and the community will have another opportunity to comment when it goes on public exhibition later this year. Council have advised that people have asked for improved signage at dog exercise areas and say that there is a request for increased patrols/ranger presence on prohibited beaches. So, with big fines for taking dogs to prohibited beaches, I encourage everyone to make themselves familiar with the rules for their favourite beach (see the link provided). Woof
