Well, it is no surprise that Etsy are still ignoring our emails. They claim they are waiting to hear from IFAW before making a decision as they don't really believe the experts at The Seahorse Trust. IFAW (International Fund for Animal Welfare) are amazing and do fantastic work for abused animals - but they are not seahorse experts. These are just some of The Seahorse Trust credentials: - We are an NGO (a registered charity under English law, licensed to work around the world) and we have partners throughout the world (we work on a partnership basis and through the Seahorse Alliance that we set up and run and have partners everywhere) and are also respected throughout the world for our work. - Most importantly is the fact we are specialists in our field. - We have over 41 years expertise in our field of seahorse conservation. - We are pioneers in seahorse captive and field research - We advise 7 governments around the world (including most of the main environmental departments in the English parliament) - We have set up countless projects to do with seahorse conservation and captive breeding from Europe to Australia, Cambodia to Bermuda, Philippines to the Black Sea and many many others. - We have written 5 books on the subject and assisted with over 20 others around the world - We have written a number of scientific papers, including in partnership with Project Seahorse and hundreds of reports and articles. - A British MP has also recently agreed to bring up the issue of seahorses in Parliament. So Etsy saying they want advice from a big animal charity as they don't trust our information and refer to us as "laypeople" is just a stalling exercise to put us on the back burner for a bit longer. Save our Seahroses have a counter on their website counting down to extinction date for seahorses - today this stands at 7230 days. Etsy have been given the extinction date in days left in the hope that this will make them think a bit more about what they are doing - absolutely no response from them. Every time we copy in Mr Silverman the CEO, he has never once had the decency to even acknowledge an email. A rude and arrogant man who allows the company to make false claims about caring for the planet's ecosystems and yet helping to destroy a part of it at the same time. Please, please keep sharing and we would ask for a blitz of sharing on Twitter using the hashtag #saveseahorses. Thank you again for being a part of this campaign to stop an horrific form of animal abuse.
