On September 11 Ethiopia celebrates Enkutatash (Ethiopian New Year) for the calendar year of 2013. Ethiopian American Civic Council (EACC/EAN) wants to express its sincere wish for happy New Year to you and your family.
EACC/EAN also wants to thank you for your historic stance in signing the petition advocating “Ethiopia deserves its fair share of the Nile water to lift its people out of poverty!”. As such your resolute defense has created the largest petition drive in Ethiopian Diaspora history, which is a testament of your genuine sense of fairness for Ethiopia and its people. Your courageous act has contributed significant diplomatic measure in Ethiopia’s ability to smash a concerted international pressure. Therefore, for your historic stance Ethiopia will never forget you.
Today with the New Year and a new covenant, we herald the much awaited mechanism to join millions of the Ethiopian people who forged unshakable determination to build Africa’s largest Hydro Electric Power Dam (GERD) to finally unshackle our beloved country from darkness and economic constraints. Thanks to our Ethiopian brothers and sisters who can least afford to undertake such a major public work without a single outside assistance and allowed all of us to proudly declare GERD: ‘IT IS MY DAM”.
With the collaboration of the Ethiopian Embassy in the Washington DC, we are happy to announce the launching of Diaspora Contribution mechanism to help finish the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam. As staunch defender of our motherland, and gallant prosecutor to defend Ethiopia’s right to use her natural resource on world stage, the time finally arrived to add our name with the people of Ethiopia to be the rightful owner of this consequential national monument.
