Dear Friends,

Students for Palestine Zurich has now launched the Zurich Declaration of Conscientious Objection, which is open for all researchers (Professors, Postdocs, PhD students, Research Assistants, etc.) and student/staff associations at the University of Zurich, ETH Zurich, Empa, Eawag, PSI, ZHdK, ZHAW, and other institutions of higher education and research in Zurich to sign. 

If you, like many of us, cannot accept the transfer of material support from our institutions to a settler-colonial apartheid state - which is committing a genocide and violates the so-called “ceasefire" daily - join us and sign the declaration today! Please share this petition with all your colleagues to ensure that we can all ensure that our institutions follow their obligations according to international law.

A recent post highlighting the embedded ties between Swiss Universities the Weizmann Institute of Science, and the israeli military and security apparatus can be found here. It is worth noting that ETH Zurich secretly cut ties with the Weizmann Institute in October 2024, covering its own neck while leaving its employees with the responsibility of maintaining ties with an institution complicit in genocide - violating international law. Signing this declaration is therefore not only a rejection of complicity in genocide and an act of organising power from below, but also one which prevents responsibility from being displaced onto individual staff while the institution evades accountability.
