Sometimes the ebb and flow of quiet is very loud when you are grieving! It’s been 11 weeks and 3 days since Zakiyah was taken from us… 11 weeks! That’s four days shy 90 days or three months! In three months you can go from the beginning of the school year to Thanksgiving break… you can go from meeting a person to maybe a third date. In 90 days, you can go from looking at a house to closing, to moving in and in three months, you can go from conception to finding out you’re pregnant… but in 90 days, no person should have to learn what life is like WITHOUT their child. This is what hurts the most! The part about this process that makes me the most proud is the fact that within that same 90 days, we have seen both the mission and the purpose of #KiyahsLaw and the need to an act to save others from the finality of domestic violence. This is also the same 90 days that we have fought to get members of Congress, to look at the bill and to see if it’s effectiveness, across the nation. In the same three month period, we have been allowed to meet prominent SEO‘s and attorneys that we would never have spoken to before. We have been able to travel to states, that are interested in welcoming the Domestic Violence Offender Registry Act (or DVORA) and within the last 60 days, we have gotten confirmation of being able to file a civil suit for the wrongful death of our daughter. Praise GOD!!! So, if you can remember the last 90 days of your life, I would like to ask, what memorable moment can you share or at least remember, that made life better, for someone else?
