Thanks to the grassroots efforts of a PhD student at UC Santa Cruz named Joshua, we have a great new tagline for RISE ("For a science...by the people, for the future!") in a handy image (above) that RISE supporters (YOU!) can download and put into your social posts and signature lines. Joshua surprised me with this -- I didn't know he had heard about RISE, and I hadn't talked with him in at least half a year.

I first met Joshua when he invited me to watch a talk on edge science he was giving to his fellow undergraduates. He was talking about progress in psychic research, examining exceptional human performance. He did a great job, and the students asked wonderfully insightful questions. Now he's a newly minted student at UC Santa Cruz studying psychology. Clearly, a bright future for him in Edge S&T!

Thanks to Joshua (and his family as well) and many others reading this, we got over our goal of getting 500 verified signatures on the RISE petition this weekend. Joshua is a proud Democrat, and I know other supporters of RISE are proud Republicans.

That's what I love about RISE -- it's truly both bipartisan and nonpartisan. It needs to happen, and it would be AMAZING if the Trump administration made it go! 

To summarize, I'm excited that RISE is becoming a grassroots effort, and I hope you are too. Let's get 'er done!
