Establish an unvaccinated blood bank service in New Zealand
The issue
I am the leader of an international independent volunteer research organisation that is informing and protecting the rights of the unvaccinated. Through our work, we have recognized a crucial gap in the current healthcare system in New Zealand: the absence of an unvaccinated blood bank.
The call for an unvaccinated blood bank isn't just an administrative change; it represents the acknowledgment and respect for individual health choices and personal autonomy. Many individuals prioritize bodily autonomy and wish to maintain their unvaccinated status even when it comes to receiving blood transfusions.
Current blood donation systems do not differentiate between vaccinated and unvaccinated donors, and this lack of transparency can leave some people in a state of uncertainty about the blood they receive. Offering an unvaccinated category within existing services or establishing a parallel service could ensure people have a choice that aligns with their personal medical preferences.
Several potential solutions could be explored. The existing blood banks could incorporate a new category for unvaccinated blood donations, or alternatively, a separate parallel service could be established that specializes solely in unvaccinated blood collection and distribution.
Furthermore, if there is resistance, creating independent hospitals that specifically cater to the needs of the unvaccinated may become necessary.
