Dear Supporters,
Thanks to all of our efforts Ku-Ring-Gai Council has agreed to list Winchester Avenue on Ku-Ring-Gai's Footpath Construction Plan. Following the Council Meeting on 21 May -where our petition for a footpath to be added to Winchester Avenue to ensure pedestrian safety was tabled and considered- the Council has adopted our proposal and there is a possibility it will be included in the 2025-26 budget plan.
The following communication was received yesterday from William Birt at Ku-Ring-Gai Council:
"Under Council's current footpath construction program, Winchester Avenue is not scheduled to be constructed in the next 5-10 years based on our current levels of funding. However, after consideration of your petition we may be able to re-prioritise our schedule and bring forward the works in Winchester Avenue subject to available funding and competing priorities at the time.
Given the length of a footpath in Winchester Avenue, the construction of a footpath would be proposed to be undertaken in two parts over two consecutive financial years to keep within budgetary constraints commencing in the 2025-26 financial year:
2025-26 - Section 1 - Eton Road to Lyle Avenue
2026-27 - Section 2 - Lyle Avenue to cul-de-sac"
Thank you again for your support and I will continue to maintain contact with council on this issue and update you on further progress. Please contact me if you have any questions or need any more information - haypentermann@gmail.com
Sincerely,
Hayley
