"In conclusion I would urge the Planning Authority to refuse the application and request that further investigations and assessments are undertaken, to include a more detailed assessment of the existing structure, and of an alternative option, at minimum retaining the existing side girders and foundations. This can be better informed by the dynamic testing.

This will maintain the non-designated heritage asset and its place in its historic and visually important landscape setting, where it has been a landmark, appreciated by the public, for the last 125 years".
