A guidance note 'Assessing historic assets that are proposed to be demolished or partially demolished' has recently been prepared by the Institution of Civil Engineers and Institution of Structural Engineers with assistance from the Conservation Accreditation Register for Engineers (CARE) and has recently been published in The Structural Engineer magazine. It is out for consultation with third parties such as Historic England, IHBC, SPAB, Cadw, HES and others.

'Historic assets' include non-designated heritage assets such as Boxted bridge. The guidance note assessment recommendations for historic assets makes for very interesting reading. Essex Highways have been forwarded a copy.
