Update on Essex Highways planning application CC/COL106/21, Babergh DC planning application DC/22/00050 and Colchester BC planning application 220059 Boxted bridge.

Thank you to everyone who has written to object to Essex Highways planning application to demolish Boxted bridge and replace it with a replacement bridge on a much wider footprint. 70 comments have been received by Babergh DC, 68 objecting and 1 supporting! 21 ‘robust representations’ were sent by members of the public raising objections to the proposals to Colchester DC.

The formal planning consultation deadlines have now passed but comments are still available to view on both Babergh DC portal, and Colchester BC portal. (Essex CC does not publish comments on their portal). We are waiting to be informed of the date for the planning committee meeting to discuss the application. SOB have a slot booked to speak for 3 minutes.

Karen Syrett, Planning & Housing Manager, Colchester BC has written on behalf of Colchester Borough Council who wish to object strongly to the proposed development.

Babergh DC Green Party and Babergh DC Heritage Officer have sent objections.

The following organizations have written to object:

Boxted Parish Council, Dedham Parish Council, Langham Parish Council and Stoke by Nayland Parish Council,  Save Britain’s Heritage, Suffolk Preservation Society, CPRE Essex, The Transport Trust, The Inland Waterways Association, Colne Stour Countryside Association, The River Stour Trust, Dedham Vale Society, Dedham Vale AONB, Colchester Cycling Campaign, The Morton Partnership and Colchester Civic Society,

We will keep you posted!

Thank you for your continued support.
