The rally was incredible. We are so grateful to all who came out, and to the State Capitol for hosting us. <3. We are now 8 days from the end of Governor Holcomb's term, so it is more important now than ever that he knows he has support to grant #ClemencyforKofi.

The rally was held to advocate for clemency for Kofi Modibo Ajabu, who has been imprisoned for 30 years for his involvement in a crime he did not commit. Nzinga Harrison, along with other speakers, addressed the attendees, emphasizing the importance of justice, mercy, and the power of redemption. They acknowledged the pain endured by the families of the victims—Lisa Alamos, Chris James, and Nick—and held a moment of silence in their honor.
The rally was framed as a plea, not a protest, aimed at persuading Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb to grant clemency before his term ends on January 12, 2025. Speakers highlighted that Kofi did not commit the murders, as affirmed by the prosecutor and the Supreme Court, and that clemency exists to correct over-sentencing in such cases. They also acknowledged the emotional and political challenges of the decision, urging the governor to act with courage and principle.
Testimonies from Kofi’s family and supporters described his accountability, personal growth, and the unfairness of his continued incarceration. The Foreman of the jury that convicted Kofi is leading the call for clemency and expressed regret over the verdict, citing flaws in the legal process and his belief in Kofi’s innocence.
The event underscored a collective call for justice tempered with compassion, seeking to inspire Governor Holcomb to act in alignment with the principles of fairness and humanity.
