Help Stop the Killing in Syria

Two Syrians artists, husband and wife, Jay Abdo and Fadia Afashe, fled the war in their country in 2011. They are now living in Los Angeles, where they declared an open hunger strike on Wednesday March 14th, on the seventh anniversary of the peaceful Syrian uprising for freedom and dignity. With this action, their aim has been to raise awareness in Los Angeles and the United States concerning the continuing war in Syria.

According to Fadia, ”this hunger strike is our peaceful solidarity with all the voiceless victims”.

Despite their constant efforts to raise awareness, they feel they have reached a point where they have no other way left to raise awareness but to jeopardize their bodies - their mental and physical health - to draw attention to the agony in Syria.

Show your solidarity with Jay and Fadia's nonviolent commitment to protect civilians and to stop killing in Syria. Sign this petition asking Mayor Garcetti to visit Jay and Fadia in their home, to discuss how Los Angeles can influence change in the Syria war and refugee crisis.
