Transcript (ID: Woman with pink blouse, short salt and pepper hair and dark rimmed glasses with an ILY pendant necklace is signing with a black background.) Hello, this vlog is focused on Super Bowl accessibility. You know the Super Bowl is soon, Feb. 11, in Las Vegas. You’ve seen my post already asking you to sign this petition. I want to emphasize this is really important to all of you. We all need more signatures and more vlogs. I’ll explain. Look back in history, 1993 [ID: a video of Garth Brooks with a patterned white shirt and microphone appears in top right corner. Later Marlee Matlin with white shirt joins him on the stage] This was the best performance ever seen. That is Garth Brooks, the country singer. He came up on stage with Marlee Matlin (name sign M-M) ASL performer. The two of them were side by side on the stage. LIVE on TV. That means all people all people around the world were watching at the same time, enjoying this. Family and friends sitting, watching and enjoying the performance. Wow, that’s considered inclusion, diversity, equality. Want to see that again? Same as back in 1993? (points to video). Is the concept of diversity, inclusion and equality new? NO. These have been around for a long time. Now, people are noticing these issues showing up more and more. Recently a few years ago, Wawa (name sign) and Sean Forbes (name sign) and Troy Kotsur (name sign) and ____ (name sign?). What happened to that performance from long ago (in 1993?) Sean Forbes and Wawa were in a black and dark background in a back stage. We missed out on Troy’s performance signing. (name sign) was seen for 20 seconds- that’s it! Huh? The picture-in-picture (on the screen) disappeared. Last year Justine Miles, Deaf black woman, was signing via a YouTube link! Again, we had to navigate through a separate link. How many of you understood about that link? The setup of the YouTube screen and the second screen side by side was not ideal. Now, Feb. 11 we have three wonderful Deaf performers, Daniel Durant (name sign) (black and white picture of Daniel appears in top left screen in dark T-shirt with arms outstretched signing ILY), Angel (appears in top right of screen in black feathery dress), a model, and Shaheem (lower left of screen, sitting with plaid shirt), the rapper. I hope all of you contact the NFL and the TV channels and ask them about this. Many parents and hearing friends, hearing workers took up ASL classes already. What is preventing (the nASL performers) from being seen on the regular broadcast? Come on, share your feelings by signing the petition or posting vlogs telling them. Look at 1993 [video with MM reappears in top right of screen] That’s considered diversity, inclusion and equality. THAT (points to screen). Thank you.
