Nosotros como Envision entendemos las preocupaciones que se pudieron generar por las acusaciones al festival, y agradecemos que nos hayan contactado para aclarar dudas en lugar de creer solamente lo que se lee en internet.
Te alentamos a informarse e involucrarse.
Parte 1. Infórmate.
¡Conocimiento es poder!. No podemos cambiar a menos que estemos armados con hechos y colaboremos a crear una solución. Creemos que las acciones hablan más fuerte que las palabras. Estamos felices de ver que hay tanta gente apasionada por conservar el medio ambiente que rodea a Envision. Esta es nuestra casa y queremos estar seguros de que permanezca tan puro como siempre ha sido, y que a largo plazo el impacto de Envision se geste un cambio positivo.
Esta petición escrita anónimamente no menciona ningún dato real al explicar lo que Envision está haciendo actualmente, sentimos que es importante empezar con la VERDAD. Así que revisemos lo que está realmente haciendo Envision, en orden propiciar y observar mejoras.
Estamos orgullosos de afirmar que Envision es uno de los festivales más verdes en el mundo. Tomamos cada aspecto del impacto ambiental muy seriamente y hacemos lo que está en nuestras manos para manejarlo de esta manera, para así poder mejorar cada año. Anualmente Envision invierte tiempo, dinero y energía en gestionar nuestro impacto. Desde 2012, Envision siempre ha contratado a uno de los mejores equipos de coordinación de sustentabilidad en Festivales en todo el mundo, Ecotopian Enterprises. Su trabajo es gestionar y monitorear todo el impacto del festival. Cada año hacemos pública esta información en nuestra página de internet de forma que cualquier persona interesada pueda tener acceso a ella.

En este reporte, podrás entender exactamente cuánta basura, reciclaje, composta generada y exactamente como es manejada. Verás que estamos orgullosos de ser el primer festival en Costa Rica que es motorizado con biodiesel. Observaras que envision es el único festival en el mundo que no distribuye ni usa
desechables.
Aquí algunos datos que se mencionan en la petición y que son falsos:
1. Campamento: Contamos con suficientes áreas de campamento para todos los asistente y staff. Además también rentamos cuartos de hotel, para aquellos que no están preparados para dormir en un campamento. Cerramos el acceso a la playo por las noches, de forma que ninguno de nuestros asistentes duerman ahí durante la noche.
2. Basura: Nuevamente, por favor lean nuestro Estudio de Impacto Ambiental (http://www.envisionfestival.com/iniciativas-ecologicas/#report). Envision es una industria líder en el manejo de desechos. Envision tiene mucho más que simplemente reciclaje, composta y estaciones de basura durante el evento. También evitamos el uso de cualquier desechable en el Festival. Todo es lavado y reusado para eliminar la necesidad de tirar papel y desechables plásticos en los basureros. En lugar de esto rentamos platos, cubiertos y tazas, para asi minimizar todo el desperdicio. Les aseguramos que no hay otro festival en Centroamérica que maneje los desechos con tanta diligencia como lo hacemos nosotros. No solamente manejamos todo el desecho del festival, Envision también organiza días de Acciones Ambientales para limpiar la basura adicional a lo largo de las playas locales.
3.Sanitarios: No podríamos obtener el permiso del departamento de salud si no pasaramos por las inspecciones que se aseguren de que contamos con las instalaciones adecuadas de sanitarios. Esta es la ley en Costa Rica. Existen más que adecuadas instalaciones de sanitarios disponibles para los Asistente a Envision. Punto final.
4. Vida salvaje: Cuando dejamos el lugar del festival el año pasado y al estar escribiendo esta carta, el lugar en los alrededores de Envision sigue tan lleno de vida como siempre. Las aves siguen en nuestros árboles, los pizotes comen nuestra yuca, los tucanes comen nuestras papayas y los monos aulladores, que siempre nos recuerdan que están con nosotros los lunes al amanecer, nunca se han ido.
5. Afectación negativa al turismo: Hemos notado que Envision es el único generador de turismo en la zona sur en todo Costa Rica. Más turistas vienen a Dominical y Uvita (y viajan por Costa Rica antes y después) alrededor de Envision de lo que sería normalmente durante toda la temporada alta. El turismo suministra a la industria y los negocios florecen debido a Envision. El comentario de los turistas fantasmas en el pueblo es simplemente una mentira.

Nosotros, el equipo de Envision, en nuestro núcleo ¡somos AMBIENTALISTAS!. El equipo de Envision está conformado por líderes en permacultura, sustentabilidad y construcción verde. La intención de Envision es la de inspirar a la gente a adoptar prácticas sustentables en sus vidas. Nuestra meta más alta, más que las ganancias (que nunca hemos obtenido en 5 años), es que la gente cuando dejan el festival, puedan ayudarnos a instruir a sus amigos a vivir en acuerdo con el mundo natural. Y sentimos y esperamos que el efecto positivo que se ha generado con la energía de Envision se replique hacia afuera desde las experiencias y lecciones que hemos aprendido durante el festival y que lleguen hasta la personas que vienen de todo el mundo.

1. Playas: Envision organiza limpieza de playas en Dominical y Playa Hermosa antes y después de Envision. Por otro lado, en 2015 hemos empezado a organizar limpiezas de playas alrededor del mundo entero a través de nuestra iniciativa “Envision Experience Day”. Estas han sido resaltadas en nuestra Página de Facebook y grupo. En 5 meses hemos organizado:

En la medida que llega la temporada alta y Envision regresa, verás una gran cantidad de Acciones Ambientales en Costa Rica, ¡necesitamos tu ayuda para ayudar a ser partícipes de mantener hermosa a nuestra comunidad!
2.Talleres de sustentabilidad en Envision. ¡Participa en nuestros talleres liderados por ambientalistas para aprender cómo puedes generar un impacto real en el mundo!
3. Reforestación: Acompañanos y apóyanos junto a nuestros socios Community Carbon Trees Costa Rica (http://www.communitycarbontrees-costarica.com/), o ayúdanos a plantar en el lugar donde se realiza Envision durante el evento con el apoyo de Costas Verdes (http://www.costasverdes.org/). Ambas organizaciones hacen una contribución increíble en la reforestación de Costa Rica. Envision a tomado el sitio del festival, Rancho La Merced, el cual era un pasto infértil de ganado y lo ha convertido en un campo de cultivo de alimento para los humanos y animales.¡ Hemos plantado miles de árboles durante el festival y en los campos aledaños con CCT!.
4. Programas escolares y días de acciones comunitarias: Los martes y miércoles de la semana del festival, el staff de Envision, Artistas y Voluntarios, plantan árboles frutales, realizan trabajos de jardinería y pintan hermosos murales en las escuelas y centro comunitarios de la comunidad local. ¡Te invitamos a ser parte de este esfuerzo! Cada voluntario extra incrementa nuestras posibilidades de crear un cambio positivo en la comunidad local. Parte 3. Perspectiva.
Nos gustaría recordar a la audiencia que aquí en Costa Rica, existen verdaderos desastres ambientales cada día, y Envision no es uno de ellos. Envision se enfoca y compromete en generar cero impacto durante el evento y dejar un camino positivo completando la limpieza y mejorando la diversidad de flora en el Rancho la Mercer cada año.
De la misma forma ayudamos felizmente a difundir en el mundo algunos de las actuales injusticias que están sucediendo realmente en el país. Por favor haznos saber cuando hay problemas en el país, si nuestra organización te puede ayudar a luchar. Es nuestro objetivo mantener las playas puras, agua abundante y la vida salvaje floreciendo.

Part 1. Get Informed
Knowledge is power!!! We cannot make change unless we arm ourselves with facts and collaborate to create a solution. We also believe that action speaks louder than words. We are happy to see that there are so many people passionate about conserving the environment surrounding Envision. This is our home and we want to make sure it stays as pristine as it ever was, and that the long term impact of Envision is one of positive change.
As this anonymously written petition fails to mention any actual facts or explain exactly what Envision is actually doing, we feel that it’s important to start with the TRUTH. Let’s take a look at what Envision is really doing, in order to see how we can improve.
We proudly claim that Envision is one of the greenest festivals in the world. We take every single aspect of our environmental impact seriously and do our best to track it so that we can improve every single year. Every year, Envision invests time, money and energy into managing our impact. Since 2012, Envision has always hired one of the best Festival Sustainability Coordination teams in the world, Ecotopian Enterprises. Their job is manage and monitor the entire impact of the festival. Each year we publish this information publicly on our website so that anyone who is interested can read it. If you actually feel strongly about Envision’s impact, we encourage you to read this report right now.

In this report, you will learn exactly how much trash, recycling and compost the festival generates and exactly how it is managed. You will see that we were proudly the first festival in Costa Rica to be powered on biodiesel. You will see that Envision is one of the only festivals in the world that distributes almost no single use dishwares.
Here are some of the ‘facts’ brought up in petition, which are simply not true:
Camping: We have more than enough camping areas within the festival for all of the attendees and staff. We also rent hotel rooms, for those that aren’t ready to sleep in a tent. We close the access to the beach at night, so that none of our attendees can sleep there at night.
Garbage: Again, please read our Environmental Impact Study (http://www.envisionfestival.com/eco-initiatives-sustainability-report/#report). Envision is an industry leader in waste management! Envision has more than enough recycling, compost and garbage stations throughout the event. We also do not use ANY single use dishwares within the festival. Everything is washed and reused to eliminate the need to send paper and plastic dishware to the landfill. Instead we rent dishes, silverware and cups, so as to minimize overall waste. We assure you that no festival of our size in Central America manages its waste as diligently as we do! Not only did we deal with all of the waste inside the festival, but Envision organize Environmental Action Days to clear up additional trash along the local beach.
Bathrooms: We would not get a permit from the health department or pass their inspections if we did not have adequate bathroom facilities. This is a law in Costa Rica. There are more than adequate bathroom facilities available to Envision attendees.
Wildlife: When we left the festival site this year and as of the writing of this letter, the Envision site and surrounding area is as full of wildlife as ever. Birds of prey sit in our trees, pizote eat our yucca, toucans eat our papayas and the howler monkeys, who many may remember were still with us on Monday at sunrise, never left.
Negatively Affecting Tourism: Envision is the single greatest new generator of tourism in the Southern Zone and as far as we can tell, all of Costa Rica. More tourists come to Dominical and Uvita (and travel Costa Rica before and after) surrounding Envision than normally would in the rest of high season combined. Tourism, supply and service industry business flourish because of Envision. The comment of a tourist ghost town is simply a lie.

We, the Envision Team, at our core are ENVIRONMENTALISTS! The Envision team is made of leaders of permaculture, sustainability and green building. The entire intention of Envision is to inspire people to adopt sustainable practices in their life. Our highest goal, more than profit (which we have never made in 5 years), is that when people leave the festival, they can help educate their friends to live in accordance with the natural world. We feel and hope that the positive effect and energy that is created at Envision ripples out from the experiences and lessons that were learnt at the festival to the communities of people that come from all around the world.

Beaches: Envision organizes beach cleanups in Dominical and Playa Hermosa before and after Envision. Sustainable workshops at Envision. Attend workshops by leading environmentalists to learn how you can create real change in the world!
Reforestation: Join and support our reforestation partner Community Carbon Trees Costa Rica (http://www.communitycarbontrees-costarica.com/), or help us plant the Envision site during the event with the support of Costas Verdes (http://www.costasverdes.org/). Both of these organizations are an amazing way to contribute to the reforestation of Costa Rica. Envision has taken our festival site, Rancho La Merced, which was a barren cattle pasture and are turning it into a food forest for humans and animals. We have planted thousands of trees on the festival site and in the surrounding forests with CCT!
School programs and Community Action Days: On Tuesday & Wednesday on the week of festival, Envision Staff, Artists and Volunteers plant fruit trees, gardens and paint beautiful murals at Schools and Community Centers in the local community. Please join us in this effort! Part 3. Perspective
We would like to remind the audience here that there are real Environmental disasters happening in Costa Rica every day and Envision is not one of them. Envision is focussed and committed to a zero impact event and leaving a positive trace by completely cleaning up and improving the plant diversity at Rancho La Merced each year.
We are also actively helping to and happy to help spread the word about some of the actual environmental injustices that are really happening within the country. Please let us know if and when there are issues in the country that our organization can help fight. It is our aim to keep the beaches pristine, water abundant and wildlife flourishing.
