The Hillsborough River is home to wading birds, flying birds of all kinds, endangered species like the West Indian Manatee,  Yellow crowned Night Heron, Great Blue Heron, Great White Heron, White Ibis, Brown Ibis, Cormorant, Anhinga, just to name a few.  The Hillsborough River has many huge culverts which dump unfiltered storm water directly from roads and highways full of heavy metals like gasoline, lead and mercury into the water.  The Water "Purifying" Hyacinths are the one river plant that cleans the water by filtering out these pollutants.   Deliberately spraying toxic poisons (like Round Up) is planned to kill these hyacinths as soon as June 2, 2015.  Please save our water ways by allowing these hyacinths to live and discontinue using poison in our tributaries feeding the Gulf of Mexico..
