Remove Jacqueline Rowarth from her position with the EPA

The issue

Dr. Jacqueline Rowarth was appointed to the position of Chief Scientist for the EPA (The New Zealand Environmental Protection Authority) in August 2016 and has actively downplayed the damaged caused by agribusiness to the NZ environment ever since, with false information and outright lies. Her former position was Professor of Agribusiness at Waikato University. Ironically the EPA has little or nothing to do with freshwater issues and largely regulates and licenses hazardous substances.

Doug Eadmeades; her scientific advisor, who partnered her in her highly inaccurate assertions  about the state of the Waikato river, is an individual who is "openly skeptical about anthropogenic climate change".... are these people the best we can get to represent us on these critical issues?

The EPA was recently set up to deal with issues around chemicals, resource mangement, emissions trading and the EEZ. Dr. Jacqueline Rowarth is making a mockery of the Authority and likely doing a heck of a lot of public relations damage outside of her job description.

Rowarth's recent and well publicised and farcical comments about the Waikato river, in particular, serve to set back the relationship between true Freshwater Scientists, Farmers and the Public, potentially by decades.

She was a corrupt appointment, and needs to go.

Rowarth’s reported comments came while addressing a meeting of landowners and farmers in Pukekohe.
But the New Zealand Freshwater Sciences Society, which represents more than 400 freshwater scientists and professionals throughout the country, says the claims are false.
The society says Jacqueline Rowarth’s statements on the Waikato River are based on outdated data and factual errors and the country’s freshwater experts want the record set straight.
