STOP Deforesting Wilpattu in Sri Lanka
The Issue
Do you AGAINST..??
Deforestation is one of the most serious environmental issues in Sri Lanka. In the 1920s, the island had a 49 percent forest cover but by 2005 this had fallen by approximately 26 percent. Between 1990 and 2000, Sri Lanka lost an average of 26,800 ha of forests per year.
Wilpattu (Willu-pattu) means ‘Land of Lakes’ and the Wilpattu Forest Complex is a land area of 528,200 acres and is the largest remaining forested land in Sri Lanka.
Deforesting is a major issue in Sri Lanka these days. This has resulted to destroy many wild parks, forests, wild animals lives, water, and many more natural resources.Government is still sleeping and not taking any action on this. No one is aware about how many acres have been destroyed during last few years.
We will protect our country. our nature. Many countries are suffering without natural creatures and they are developed their countries without destroying environment. Think a bit ! How many natural resources are in sri lanka, As Sri Lankan we have everything but no one is understand. Why tourist are attracted to Sri Lanka.? Is any tourism agency taking action on deforestation.? I have never seen anyone.
There are many bloggers maintain pages but very few are talking on this. Why.?
Ask from your self. Do you against or not.?
Let's stand on this. we will bring this issue to the world.
# As a Human being who loves motherland Nature and its beauty will against.
We can change this. Fight for the wild life and Deforestation. Lets Start from here.
