Pollution is the introduction of contaminants into the natural environment that cause adverse change. Pollution can take the form of chemical substances or energy, such as noise, heat or light. Pollutants, the components of pollution, can be either foreign substances/energies or naturally occurring contaminants. Pollution is often classed as point source or nonpoint source pollution.
Having a dirty environment can cause us different diseases such as Respiratory and lung diseases including: Asthma attacks, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Reduced lung function, Pulmonary cancer, Mesothelioma, Pneumonia, Leukemia, Birth defects and immune system defects, Cardiovascular problems, heart diseases and stroke, Neurobehavioral disorders, and Premature death.
Stopping pollution is a complicated issue that takes the effort of big industry as well as individual lifestyle changes. However, no change is too small when it comes to individual efforts. Be proactive in stopping pollution because the best way to influence others is to lead by example. To prevent a dirty environment we should first have self- discipline because change starts within ourselves. We should also learn how to clean our environment, practice proper disposal, recycle, and many more.
