An MP has suggested that the NMC's poor handling of this case needs reviewing and the organisation should be "replaced with a body which can instil confidence into the profession for both nurses and the public".

We have been asking the NMC for some time now to keep records of the gradings of those that are refer and those that are referred as we feel hierarchy plays a part. It seems very rare that senior managers are held to account for failings despite strong evidence, which is often ignored, being produced by registrants during their own hearings.

The NMC must start openly looking at context, believing whistleblowers and those raising concerns and not just assuming seniority brings openness, transparency and truth
