One of the things we have been pushing for with the NMC is better support for those going through FtP.

Today the NMC has launched it's registrant support service - it is free to anyone and is run independently of the NMC so nurses, midwives and nursing associates can contact confidentially for support without fear

We know of 4 nurses who have died by suicide during FtP since April last year and 15 who have died prior to completion of their investigation since April 2015 - the time has never been more right to ensure these healthcare professionals are supported too. We are just as vulnerable to mental health affects as the wider population and deserve to be cared for appropriately too.
