According to this article, the government has set out plans to change the law to give healthcare regulators like the Nursing and Midwifery Council more freedom and enable reform to “outdated” fitness to practise procedures.

A large consultation on regulatory reform,  ran from October 2017 to January last year but we are still no nearer to knowing what this reform will look like in reality
