The IAMNURSEAMARO campaign is attempting to support this nurse and we are offering our support too. As colleagues we are outraged and disgusted by the treatment of Nurse Izzy (Isabel Amaro) who in 2014 was unjustly convicted of gross negligence manslaughter and has had her nursing career taken from her. We feel she was an easy target in an unjust system where nurses are regularly used and abused on hospital wards. Izzy had to spend 2 months in a HMP and has suffered extreme ill health as a result of the stress she has been placed under. We are deeply sorry for the tragic death of a child and would like to see justice for him and to protect patients from harm through addressing systemic failures not targeting individual HCPs.
