Because Kenneth Venne is to be released tomorrow, I will be closing this petition. I have posted his most recent photograph for those who have expressed concern for themselves. Thank you to everyone who has signed and/or shared this petition. Throughout this process I have reached out to several agencies including Governor Abbott, who declined to do anything about this case.

I was only 12 years old when this tragedy happened. I don’t even remember the disposition of the case. Now that I’m much older and I have worked hard to try and seek justice for families, I realize how social media and speaking out before someone like this is sentenced is important. I encourage everyone, whether you live in West Texas or on the other side of the world, to please stay on top of the news going on around you and demand that people like Venne are given harsher sentences for horrible crimes.

Despite what the former District Attorney says, this was a Capital case. Ruby Fieseler was sexually assaulted during the commission of the murders. Venne came into the house without her permission and that, in itself, was burglary. When he drove off in her vehicle, that was another charge. There are no excuses for this case not to have been prosecuted as a Capital case. It was laziness on the judge and DA’s office and not enough push from the public.

Here is a link to a story The Odessa American published last week:

There is a lot more to this story and I hope that you all read the comments people have posted to see how much this family has lost. Stay safe—
