The Issue

Playing a seemingly innocent game like Pony.town can sometimes turn into a disturbing experience. Recently, while enjoying this game, I encountered a group of users led by a girl who was spewing extremely hateful and offensive remarks. This wasn't just harmless trolling. She was mocking disorders, telling others to "cut themselves," and even instructing them to "make the rope tighter." As someone who has battled depression, seeing such toxic behavior in a game meant for kids was infuriating and heart-wrenching.

Games marketed to children should be sanctuaries, places where they can learn, play, and grow without being exposed to harmful or triggering content. Unfortunately, my experience is not isolated. Many parents and young gamers share similar stories of online harassment, and it’s evident that more stringent measures must be implemented to prevent such behavior in the future.

We are calling upon game developers, platform operators, and regulatory bodies to take definitive action. This includes implementing stronger moderation protocols, using AI to detect and filter offensive content, and creating a more robust reporting system that ensures quick and effective responses to such incidents.

Statistics show that over 70% of young gamers have encountered bullying or harassment online. It is our duty to protect these vulnerable users and ensure their gaming experience remains safe and enjoyable. By imposing stricter safety measures and guidelines, game companies can foster a nurturing environment for children.

Let's work together to demand better safety features and protections in kids' games. This change will not only shield young minds from harm but will also set a standard for digital spaces where kindness and positivity are prioritized. Please sign this petition to help ensure kids' games are genuinely safe and welcoming places for all children.
