A notice in the new Tesco shop on the Watling Avenue announces that it will open its doors on Friday 22nd November (today).

I have invited the Member of Parliament to drop by.  Love it or hate it, it is a big occasion, which represents economic growth.  Tesco and possibly Sainsburys deciding to invest here in our town centre

As you know, Tesco was a first here, the first Tesco opened here on this very high street.  It was also mentioned in his first speech in Parliament.

I have some concerns about the amount of large lorries parking outside, and crowding and obstructions on the pavement, the promotion of alcohol in the area, shop-lifting, and the extraction of profits towards Tesco shareholders at our expense.  But Traders say that Tesco's confidence to move here, in the former William Hill shop, is good news because it shows that Burnt Oak is a good place to do business.
