Lane Tech College Prep's Rally for Jemel Roberson on Sunday was powerful and inspiring. Two recent Lane tech alumni spoke about their experience getting shot. Pete Kalenik, a former soldier, current police officer, and Lane Tech alum spoke to the need for sane gun control. Artist/Activist and Lane Tech mom Jacqueline von Edelberg spoke about how to our collective anguish into action.
The Basketball Team added still more orange fabric to the Schools Say Enough Sidewalk Challenge public art installation created at Friday's vigil, representing the 15K kids gunned down since Sandy Hook. It stretches the length of the court. The piece will stay up for the season and travel with players as a tangible reminder that Lane students are standing up to the violence in Jemel's name.
The first game is tonight against Jones College Prep.
