I am very worried that the Strauss High Performance review will result in a proposal for a significant reduction in the number championship matches and perhaps even county clubs. In this context I was pleased to hear the points made eloquently for more cc cricket by John Stevenson, CEO of Essex. Whether he’s a lone voice we don’t know but we hope that he’s speaking on behalf of the so called ‘C’ category clubs

He also said that a minimum of seven red ball home games was a red line that essex wouldn’t cross. We’re trying to get other clubs to set out their criteria for supporting ECB or not before the meeting (probably 3 August, Oval)

We all know that major changes to the UK cricket schedule are being reassessed (again). This could seriously hit county cricket and resulted in questions being asked at AGMs and member forums.  In the last few weeks leaflet campaigns, at Lancashire, Northants and Yorkshire asked whether fans support a further reduction in the number of first class county championship matches or not.

A short survey is now online and all cricket supporters - members or not - can give their view.  For this to have any impact, it needs a large number of people to complete the survey. It needs everyone sign and to encourage their family and friends to complete it.  It takes less than a minute to do both of these things.
