Unfortunately, there has been another death in Albuquerque that could have been prevented…Kevin Barton tragically lost his life this past weekend at the hands of a drunk driver. The driver, Casino Salazar, was arrested in Roswell, NM only four days prior after getting into a car crash due to drinking and driving. He was arrested for a DWI and released shortly after. The conditions of his release state that he cannot drive, drink alcohol, or leave Chaves County while that case is pending. Obviously, that was not enough of a punishment. You can’t just tell someone to not drink and drive, YOU HAVE TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! Come on, enforce the laws that are put in place instead of giving people a slap on the wrist! Hold people accountable for their actions. There should be stricter enforcement/penalties even on pretrial. 

I’m glad he has been arrested and hope the justice system follows through with keeping him in custody. Condolences to the victim’s family. �
