I’m pleading with people to take some time out to write an email to womenshealthtaskforce@health.gov.ie and please copy your local TDs in the email.
To anyone who’s said “I wish I could help somehow” - here’s your chance even if you don’t have Endo yourself! You’re not only helping me but your own sisters nieces daughters and a tiny proportion of men too. (Endo doesn’t discriminate).
#endofam I appreciate that everyone is at a different stage in their journey and some may not be emotionally or mentally capable of getting into detail. . This is COMPLETELY OKAY! I absolutely understand! Please know that I wouldn’t expect anyone to get into that kind of territory if they don’t feel up to it!
However, without getting into massive detail, (unless you want to, that’s welcome), you could simply email the following draft.
Subject: Endometriosis (and or whatever you choose)
Dear #womenstaskforce
I am writing to express my deep concern with regard to endometriosis patients in Ireland. I am/I know someone whose quality of life is significantly affected by many of the following issues: o Lack of funding or research o Lack of awareness o Lack of support in the workplace o Desperately lengthy gynaecology delays and misdiagnosis o Debilitating chronic daily pain o Medical trauma o Lack of effective surgeons o Multiple surgeries required to excise disease from all organs o Desperate need for a 'Centre of Excellence' I’d like to know how the task force plan to tackle these issues and what measures you intend to implement. I look forward to your response.
Regards _______ *********************
I personally included a lot about the abuse I’m subjected to by doctors and gardai re cannabis pain management use - feel free to add / remove your own specific concerns.
By no means am I attempting to get everyone to share my views, I’m simply providing a guideline for you to amend to how you see fit. If we don’t make the effort and make noise we can’t complain that nothing is being done. Please help open more conversation around #endometriosis in #ireland.
Thanks so so much for your support to date its greatly appreciated.
Warm regards,
Aimee.
