Hey everyone, I just wanted to extend a heartfelt "thanks" to all of you who have signed and supported this petition. As of today we've crossed the 500 signature line which is pretty amazing for a local petition after a couple of weeks and should be enough to start getting attention with policy makers.
I will start discussions with local elected officials over the next couple of weeks, leveraging the support you all have provided as evidence that people on the Peninsula really care about ending the significant toll on people and animals caused by the current state of I-280 and other local (unfenced) freeways. I'll report back with progess.
In the meantime, please share this petition with friends and connections as relevant opportunities come up - stories about similar issues in the news like this recent piece on CNN, roadkill or near misses you might see in your travels, etc. And if you want to dig deeper into the rationale behind this petition I recently did a talk in Burlingame about living with local wildlife - the story of this family of mountain lions and the toll taken on them by local roadways starts at the 31:00 mark.
With gratitude from me and our furred friends,
Jason
