We’ve got only a few weeks to go before Thanksgiving, and we haven’t heard anything from The Wall Street Journal. It’s not easy to replace an editorial that’s been running for 60 years, so we thought we’d offer them a suggestion!
Change.org is launching a contest to find a Thanksgiving essay that’s better than “The Desolate Wilderness.” How can we as a nation stop honoring the false story behind the holiday and instead tell a story of our nation that honors all Americans, including Native Americans? We want to read something which positions the descendants of the U.S.’ original inhabitants and settlers as modern day accomplices in the fight for a more just nation.
I hope you’ll submit! First prize will receive $500 and two runners up will receive $100. Plus, Change.org will work to get the first prize winner placed in a widely-read news outlet and promote all three on their platforms.
You can read all the details here. Can’t wait to read your work!
