In a historic step forward, Dickinson High School has officially announced that they will be retiring the "Midget" mascot. This decision comes after years of advocacy from the disability community and allies who have spoken out about the harm caused by using a derogatory term as a school mascot.

Superintendent Marcus Lewton stated, “It is time for a change.” This is proof that progress is possible when we listen, learn, and choose respect.
