NT TIO MAC ALLIANZ ARE ROBBING MEDICARE AND THE AUSTRALIAN TAXPAYER AND HOLDING PATIENTS "MEDICALLY HOSTAGE", SAYS PATIENT
TIO NT MAC Allianz denies care as a strategy and uses all available tactics to achieve this.
The private sub-contracted insurer TIO ALLIANZ MAC profits from injuries and disablements on roads in the Northern Territory (people injured in a vehicle crash in the NT are subjected to a mandatory sentence to be on a scheme with a business they never had an agreement with).
In relation to patient Joshua Clements, on numerous occasions, scans at PRP Imaging and other appointments or treatments with healthcare providers have gone unpaid, despite them being for injuries directly linked to the fatal bus crash and to the patient, Joshua Clements.
Vengeance and bullying have happened to Joshua Clements by the Allianz team (see Allianz weaponisation of police involvement, below).
Many providers finally relent after having an unpaid invoice for over six months and charge Medicare. Medicare picks up the bill for Allianz, which in turn profits from the Australian taxpayer.
As a hostage-patient on the Allianz scheme, Joshua Clements' carer must repeatedly chase everything they need from the faux-insurer; it is an uphill fight, so much so that NT TIO Allianz emails have brought on severe panic attacks to Joshua Clements. To do something very hard, try to regain some level of your body, struggling with permanent life-changing physical and mental injuries. But they know that, and their strategy is simply to exhaust the patient until they relinquish their rights, and profit flows into Allianz's coffers.
The TIO is, in our view, a terrible scheme, and our forced mandatory participation is nothing short of being a medical hostage. They have pushed participants into severe mental health episodes.
This happens because Allianz has a policy of obstacle creation, delay, deliberate lateness, lack of consultants, lack of qualified consultants, lack of specific doctors or consultants, they challenge well-documented treatment, ignore treatments, ignore doctors, ignore surgeons, ignore forms, have ignored the law and relevant statues; they do everything to break the patient, they have preferred doctors for IMEs so to write insurance friendly medical examinations; NT TIO are purposefully fundamentally disorganised, whilst being made to do one thing, make Allianz money.
These are all well-tried tactics imported from the United States. Still, as a private insurer in Australia attempting an American strategy of avoiding giving care at all costs (through implicit and explicit means), this well-reported tactic of dodging responsibility is simply un-Australian. For TIO NT MAC Allianz, this well-reported tactic of dodging responsibility is simply un-Australian. As a business decision, it appears to participants in the scheme as an attempt to deny care or to push their expenses onto the Taxpayer and onto the patient, and then do anything that puts patients last and Allianz's profit first.
Allianz NT TIO MAC makes over $110M a year. They make more profit the more people they can remove from the scheme, which is my understanding, from the terrible treatment I have suffered. Imagine if that money went to caring for patients instead.
We will repeat our call for the TIO to be scrapped in the coming weeks. We will write to the NT leadership, and we will succeed, if not now, then in the future in removing their leech from public life and this erroneous law that, inevitably, a high court would strike down if someone had the legal funds to go up against Allianz. So, we will seek political solutions (please help us achieve this by signing and sharing our petition! No need to donate).
In addition to this,
Joshua Clements has countless outstanding complaints, including ones made directly to the TIO MAC Commissionaire, William Oliver. So far, we have received nothing but acknowledgements. No complaint has been resolved to satisfaction or in a satisfactory way.
The TIO has also illegally threatened Joshua Clements with the police. Travis Baxter reported Joshua Clements, a participant, to the police; the police decided no action was warranted. This was nothing but a tactic by Travis Baxter to try to get Joshua Clements off the scheme in pursuit of profit.
Following last year, when they tried to equate going to the gym (patient-funded) with physiotherapy (Allianz-funded), they have asked why Joshua Clements' physio is not working. This is at the end of a period of intense surgeries and operations—operations that are not finished. 14 so far in total.
Joshua Clements is having to come to terms with the life-changing injuries that have been inflicted upon him as part of what the police believe is, and they're prosecuting as, a crime. A devastating crime, one that a police officer referred to as having turned the 20-occupant heavy vehicle into a military grade missile.
Having complex injuries challenged and examined is dehumanising and retraumatising. Joshua Clements will never run again, he has no social life, he will never swim again, he will never snowboard again, or take yoga, or dance or be free of pain.
It is a tragedy that the TIO continues to fail to take care of or understand patients. They must be relieved of their responsibilities. This is nothing short of a government corporate subsidy to Allianz—a leech on the Northern Territory taxpayers and to all taxpayers who pay for and cherish Medicare.
"We have had to fight for everything. From our years on the scheme, we know that this has been a transactional business, asking patients to 'get over' life-changing injuries and treating them as unmovable stock that they are trying to sell, or dump from a warehouse."
- Joshua Clements
No doubt, there would be cheers in the TIO Allianz office if Joshua Clements were to give up, but supported by his amazing wife and his fantastic medical and legal team, they're prepared to fight this for as long as is necessary.
