John was sadly denied commutation by the Pennsylvania Board of Pardons on March 5th. The board voted 4-1 against granting John commutation after a heated and intense debate.

The debate was centered around a disagreement between Pennsylvania Lieutenant Governor John Fetterman and Bucks County DA Matt Weintraub over the DA Office's refusal to test the scissors in John’s case. DA Weintraub consistently was unable to give a concrete reasoning for his inability to test the scissors which was impaled in Sheila Ginsberg's chest when she was found.

DA Weintraub (whose knowledge of the case was minimal) was, for the length of his exchange with LG Fetterman, unable to provide a sufficient reason for his refusal to test the scissors. Might it be that if John Brookins' DNA is not on the scissors, his office and his re-election chances might be in jeopardy?

Beyond that, DA Weintraub and Chief of Appeals Jill Graziano consistently referred back to John's original trial. As we discuss on our website, there are several reasons why John's trial should be discredited - the failure of Sharon Ginsberg (who accused John and is suspected to be guilty of the murder) to testify in court, the fact that the court-appointed attorney was also the acting solicitor for the Bucks County Police Department, and the murkiness surrounding the forensic evidence.

Barely mentioned during the discussion was John's impeccable prison record for thirty plus years and the positive effects he has had on everyone he has encountered during that time.

The discussion went on for two hours and has to be seen to be believed. You will be able to watch it on bringbrookinshome.com

The fight for John's freedom continues.
