Dear supporters,
We are writing today with full hearts and deep gratitude. Because of your signatures, your messages, your donations, your advocacy, and your refusal to give up on the sloths, we are able to share an important update as we close out this petition: The Sloth Institute officially received our wildlife rescue center permit from SINAC last year. This means we are once again independently permitted to operate as a wildlife rescue center in Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica, and continue our mission to rescue, rehabilitate, and rewild sloths.
When this petition began, we were facing one of the most difficult chapters in our organization’s history. The uncertainty was overwhelming, and at times, the road ahead felt impossible. But nearly 50,000 people from around the world stood with us and made it clear that sloths deserve science-based care, ethical rehabilitation, and the chance to return to the wild where they belong.
Your voices mattered.
This permit marked a new beginning for The Sloth Institute. With it, we can move forward with transparency, legal standing, and renewed purpose as we prepare to welcome future sloth patients in need. We are also continuing our plans to build a new sloth clinic and nursery at our headquarters in Manuel Antonio.
To everyone who signed, shared, donated, encouraged us, and believed in our work: thank you. You helped carry us through a time when we needed our community more than ever. This victory belongs to all of us.

Hoy les escribimos con el corazón lleno y con profunda gratitud. Gracias a sus firmas, sus mensajes, sus donaciones, su apoyo y su decisión de no rendirse por los perezosos, podemos compartir una actualización muy importante al cerrar esta petición: The Sloth Institute recibió oficialmente nuestro permiso de centro de rescate de vida silvestre de SINAC el año pasado. Esto significa que nuevamente contamos con autorización independiente para operar como centro de rescate de vida silvestre en Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica, y continuar con nuestra misión de rescatar, rehabilitar y reintroducir perezosos a la vida silvestre.
Cuando comenzó esta petición, estábamos enfrentando uno de los capítulos más difíciles en la historia de nuestra organización. La incertidumbre era abrumadora y, en algunos momentos, el camino por delante parecía imposible. Pero casi 50,000 personas de todo el mundo se unieron a nosotros y dejaron claro que los perezosos merecen atención basada en la ciencia, rehabilitación ética y la oportunidad de regresar a la naturaleza, donde pertenecen.
Sus voces importaron.
Este permiso marcó un nuevo comienzo para The Sloth Institute. Gracias a él, podemos seguir adelante con transparencia, respaldo legal y un propósito renovado mientras nos preparamos para recibir a futuros pacientes perezosos que necesiten ayuda. También seguimos avanzando con nuestros planes de construir una nueva clínica y guardería para perezosos en nuestra sede en Manuel Antonio.
A todas las personas que firmaron, compartieron, donaron, nos animaron y creyeron en nuestro trabajo: gracias. Ustedes nos ayudaron a seguir adelante en un momento en el que necesitábamos a nuestra comunidad más que nunca. Esta victoria nos pertenece a todos.
