The Flock system surveils the movements of our entire community, shares data nationwide, and provides data that ICE uses to arrest immigrants. We have three main demands of the City:
- End all contracts with Flock Safety
- Remove all Flock cameras from public spaces and roads
- End all sharing of Flock data collected in Durango with other agencies.

Mayor and City Council,
My name is [Name] and I am a resident of Durango. I am outraged about what I have learned about the Flock surveillance camera system in our City. It is unacceptable that we have a camera system that is tracking and storing the movements of every vehicle it sees, and is searchable by anyone with a Flock login without a warrant, probable cause or reasonable suspicion. I am angry that our police department shared access to our cameras with 60 departments collaborating with ICE, and that a private company controls our data and can share it across the country without our knowledge or consent.
I believe the Flock system is against our values and any benefit the system is to our police department is greatly outweighed by the infringement on our rights and the danger it poses to vulnerable members of our community.
I am calling on our City and our Police department to immediately end all contracts with Flock safety, remove all Flock cameras from our roads and public spaces, and end all sharing of camera data with other agencies. Doing so is the only way to protect our community from the inevitable abuses of this system.
Thank you,
