Mr. Russell,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing on behalf of a group of concerned students at Allen High School to address an issue that has garnered significant attention both locally and globally.

While we acknowledge and respect each student's diversity of opinions and beliefs, we firmly believe in the importance of basic human rights and individual autonomy. However, we believe that the presence of the Students for Life club at our school does not align with the fundamental principles of respect, inclusion, and a healthy learning environment that we strive for at Allen High School.

Our concerns primarily stem from the club’s focus, which seems to center around political motives, leading to divisive debates among students. While we recognize that political awareness is important, we believe the school should remain a space where education is prioritized, and students are encouraged to respect each other’s beliefs and personal autonomy—especially on sensitive issues such as reproductive rights.

Research, including studies by the Guttmacher Institute, shows that decisions surrounding abortion are deeply personal and often tied to economic stability and family planning considerations. Women, in particular, should have the right to make decisions about their bodies without pressure from external groups, especially in an academic environment where all students should feel safe and respected.

To date, over 850 people—both locally, nationally, and even internationally—have signed a petition supporting this cause. The widespread support demonstrates that this issue is important to a diverse community of individuals who believe in creating a respectful, inclusive, and educational space for all students.

We are not asking for the suppression of anyone’s freedom of speech, but we request that the school administration reconsider the presence of the Students for Life club, as we believe it conflicts with the values of respect and autonomy that should be upheld in our school community.

Thank you for taking the time to consider our concerns. We trust that you will make a decision that ensures Allen High School remains a place where all students can thrive in an environment of mutual respect and understanding.

Below, I have attached a full list of everyone who has signed the petition. It includes their name, city, state, zip code, country, and the date they signed it.

Sincerely,
Caleb Dineen
