Dear Supporters
This petition now has over 9,000 signatures, more than 9,000 voices calling on the New South Wales Government to listen to the SCIENCE, listen to the OPINION POLLS and stop the cruelty of rodeos.
Please help in spreading the word to reach 10,000.
The Minister has promised a review of the laws governing rodeos this year, so now is the time to speak up.
Multiple scientific studies in Australia have shown the fear and distress suffered by animals used in rodeos.
A survey undertaken for RSPCA Australia in 2022 showed that 67% of people Australia-wide are concerned or very concerned about the welfare of rodeo animals.
The Australian Animal Welfare Survey, conducted in 2023 by BehaviourWorks at Monash University, found that:
- 9 in 10 Australians agree that animal welfare should be protected
by the government through legislation. - Most companion and farmed animals are viewed as sentient by
Australians. - Australians believe that policy decisions should prioritise impacts
on animals, incorporate scientific evidence, and consider animal
sentience. - Australians trust animal welfare groups, researchers, and
practitioners and think these groups should have more say in
policy decisions. - Australians believe an independent and impartial authority should
have the final say on animal welfare policy decisions.
It's time to end the protections that the law gives to the cruelty inflicted by rodeos.
Please circulate this petition as widely as possible, so that the voice of animals can be heard.
Thank you for your support.
