City Council Didn't Hear Us And Continues The Practice of Prison Gerrymandering

Alicia DorseyPhiladelphia, PA, United States

Im heartbroken only 7 or 8 of us testified during the 2/2/22 hearing on bill 220003 which was created behind closed doors with little to no input from the community.

City Council did adjust their maps but was called out for not creating fair districts long ago. Our Votes and Our Voices are being gentrified every chance city council is able to gentrify. Councilman Curtis Jones has one of the heaviest gentrified district with a jail. These democrats are just as bad as the republicans when prison gerrymandering is involved.

We lose at least $21,000 per brother and sister behind bars per year for the next ten years according to the research i did on 2010 census. Please join me in understanding the census and how the allocations affect our communities. Please don't allow for anything when comes to the big money in prison gerrymandering. If our brothers and sisters behind bars are being counted for the population please know that big money comes with those counts. Some communities in rural parts of our country flourish off the prison, build new schools, roads, playgrounds and more around the prison but never ever visit our brothers and sisters behind bars.

Please help me in learning about how the census works for us!! Please register for Census Academy

I will keep you updated on the research and hope we can connect and do the research together!! aliciadorsey2@gmail.com
