Federal Regulator Responds — Mississippi Department of Insurance Now Reviewing Travelers’ Conduct
On July 18, 2026, I received a direct response from the U.S. Department of the Treasury, Bureau of the Fiscal Service, Surety Bonds Branch regarding the three public‑official bond claims I filed earlier this year. Treasury reviewed the matter and issued a clear directive:
“Please forward this complaint to your state department of insurance. They field these types of complaints.”
This means the federal government has formally acknowledged the seriousness of the misconduct involving Prentiss County officials and Travelers Casualty & Surety Company of America. Treasury confirmed that the Mississippi Department of Insurance (MID) is the proper authority to review Travelers’ actions — and that MID has the power to escalate the matter back to Treasury if Travelers violated federal surety obligations.
Why This Matters
This is not just a private dispute. This is not just a paperwork issue. This is not just a misunderstanding.
This is a systemic failure involving:
three separate Travelers denials,
three bonded officials,
three claim numbers,
three statutory violations,
three failures to investigate,
and three attempts to avoid accountability.
Travelers repeated the same defects in all three denials:
contradicting themselves in the “Brief Description of the Facts,”
misrepresenting Mississippi Code §25‑1‑45,
ignoring mandatory ministerial duties,
failing to request evidence,
failing to investigate,
and denying coverage based on the absence of evidence they never asked for.
This is a pattern, not an accident.
What Happens Next
I have now submitted a full regulatory package to the Mississippi Department of Insurance, including:
the three Travelers denial letters,
the full rebuttal,
statutory analysis,
case law analysis,
evidence summary,
and the federal referral from Treasury.
MID is now reviewing Travelers’ conduct.
If MID determines Travelers violated Mississippi law or federal surety standards, they can escalate the matter back to Treasury for federal enforcement.
