In the past month, myself and other pigeon caters have received multiple eyewitness accounts of pigeon poaching all across the city. First Brighton Beach, then Coney Island, and now the UWS is being absolutely ravaged. At least 6 large flocks that we know of are now missing. The same black unmarked minivan has been seen fleeing these scenes, driven by someone described as a 5'8" middle-aged Hispanic male. No progress has been made in bringing more attention to this matter because the " Activists" in NYC who claim to care about pigeons can only pretend to care when a photo op or paycheck is involved.
Recently, the NYC Bar association re-released an updated outline of the proposed HB 1097 which would enforce the existing ban of live animal shoots to include pigeons. This proposal has been presented before, multiple times, to PA legislators and house representatives. We know Broadway Pigeons in Bushwick is still the central hub for the poachers and their crimes, but the police refuse to act. Last week, a flock feeder attempted to enter the store and was assaulted by Lisa Modica Hall, a long time employee of Michael Scott, the owner and a poacher.
As of now, no activism organizations have stepped in to stage demos or protests at the store or the shooting clubs. If you can help in any capacity, especially to organize protests immediately, please email pigeonsformiles@gmail.com
Thank you to those who care about this matter. I wish we had more power to bring attention to this important matter, but it's no longer enough to care. We HAVE TO FIGHT on behalf of the pigeons, or this will never end. Please get involved, get active, get ANGRY. The pigeons deserve our outrage at their horiffic suffering and our advocacy for it to finally end.
