On Wednesday of this week, faculty members at Capilano University agreed to return to work and to finish assessing their students' learning for this semester!
This agreement ensued the very next day after we sent many e-mails to the heads of administration at Capilano University, as well as to other relevant parties including:
- Paul Dangerfield, president of Capilano University;
- Yuri Fulmer, Chancellor of Capilano University;
- the Capilano University Senate;
- the Capilano University Board of Governors;
- the Capilano Faculty Association;
- the Capilano Students Union;
- the Ministry of Post Secondary Education and Future Skills; and
- the MoveUP union.
This means that all faculty members will now be reviewing their students' work, and will assign either a letter grade or Credit for work completed in their students' courses.
Even though the strike with support workers and the MoveUP union is still continuing at Capilano University, this news is a HUGE WIN for all students! Now we finally have a resolution in sight for the summer 2023 semester!
We are no longer left in limbo as to our semester's outcomes, because faculty members have finally agreed to review and grade our submitted assignments! Our summer 2023 course outcomes will now be reflected on our transcripts, and will be counted towards the completion of our program's requirements.
Thank you to everyone who signed our petition, and continued showing support throughout this journey! We reached our 500 signature goal last week, thanks to all of you who signed, shared, and re-shared this petition!
We encourage you to please keep sharing this petition!
