Finally, hit the TAKE ACTION NOW button, and take the actions described there.
I’ll wait . . .
Done? Great! Here’s the news.
We’ve discovered two more of the 62 Flock ALPRs that are on and around the university. These two are on 6th Avenue, between Campbell and Euclid, capturing vehicles going both eastbound and westbound (marked in red in the above map).
That’s right—every day, thousands of us who have nothing to do with the University of Arizona are having our vehicle’s location and distinguishing characteristics entered into a national database, making our daily travel searchable to over 5000 end users.
(Do you need to take a minute to complete those action steps?)
We’ve linked up with Deflock groups in Flagstaff and Scottsdale to stop the spread of mass surveillance statewide. Sedona has already cancelled their contract with Flock Safety. Flagstaff is poised to do the same.
We have learned a lot about UA’s contract with Flock Safety thanks to our paralegal’s tenacity and creativity in submitting public records requests. We are using what we learn to assemble a new Cease and Desist letter and filing a complaint about their violations.
We could do even more with your involvement! Go to our website, scroll to the bottom of the page, and sign up. We will reach out to you right away. There’s a role for you in the movement, just waiting.
