Yes, you read that right, they tried to kill the bill by removing it from the legislative calendar so it wouldn't even be discussed. Thank God Rep. Giddings was there to give this powerful speech. I a fairly certain that Rep. Giddings speech is what got the bill added back onto the the calendar, which is known formally as the Local and Consent Calendar. For the record, Rep. Giddings delivered a POWERFUL speech, I already know the situation and I was still moved to tears, it is clear that her heart is in the right place. I've said it before and I'm sure I'll have to say it again, this bill WILL NOT pass easily, if at all. If we don't end Lunch Shaming in 2017 we won't have the opportunity again until 2019!
