With your help we've surpassed 100,000 signatures in less than 6 weeks!

I had a great chat with a powerful Texas legislator today, and by powerful I mean multi-term and a force to reckon with, as soon as I receive a statement of support from the legislator's Chief-of-Staff I will share it. While crunching some numbers I took a look at the signature counts from a few heavy-hitter states and I was surprised by some of the numbers. This is a Texas-based petition that will have a direct and significant impact on K-12 students within Texas but Texas was NOT number one in the signature count. At the time I counted there were 8,451 Texas-based signatures, New York and Alabama were each only about 600 signatures behind. The big winner in the signature tally was California, with a whopping 14,534 signatures! The backing of a supportive and influential Texas legislator will prove invaluable in bringing this change to fruition, but we will also need more signatures, especially Texas-based signatures. If you've shared this petition in the past please consider doing so again, the more signatures obtained the more likely it is that this issue will gain the national attention it deserves. When the Texas legislature reconvenes in January 2017 I would like them to be welcomed by a mountain of Texas-based signatures, every share helps move this petition closer to that goal.
