Only 3,300 signatures to go and we'll reach 50,000!!!

I've just had my second interview with a local television station, News Channel 25, aka KXXV here in Central Texas. My first interview was a month ago tomorrow and at that time this petition had less than 100 supporters, my how it has grown! In response to the petition packet mailed last week, I received a letter from the Deputy Director of Gov. Abbott's Constituent Communication Division, the letter stated that any amendment to H.B. 3562 must be initiated by a member or members of the Texas legislature (which is not currently in session). Of the three Texas legislators who were mailed petition packets last week, the only response I have received is a letter from the District Director for Texas Representative J.D. Sheffield; The letter stated that the petition packet would be passed on to Rep. Sheffield and his Chief of Staff, so that it can be added to the list of items needing attention during the next legislative session. I do not consider either response adequate for a "victory" declaration, however, both the Governor and the Texas legislature should consider themselves, officially "On Notice"! I'd still like to see a member of the Texas legislature go on record and state that they have initiated either an amendment to H.B. 3562 or an entirely new bill that will meet the intent of this petition. I appreciate all the comments, even those that might be considered negative toward either me or the state of Texas, keep them coming, and as always, please consider sharing this petition, a second or third time if necessary, I'm sure you agree, this situation cannot stand as is.
