My husband, Craig, was sentenced to 25 years in prison during a documented mental health crisis — despite two court-appointed psychiatrists confirming his Bipolar I Disorder and detailing how it impaired his judgment. Instead of treatment, the system chose punishment.
In Louisiana, drunk drivers who cause fatalities have received only 5–8 years. Craig, who was in the middle of a medical emergency, got more than triple that. This is not justice.
