TAKE ACTION TO HELP END LIVE EXPORT ON WORLD ANIMAL DAY -SUNDAY 4 OCTOBER 2026

TALE Townsville Against Live Export
Sep 24, 2026

Sunday 4 October is World Animal Day, a time when communities worldwide speak up for a kinder future for all animals. This year’s theme, “See the World Through Their Eyes,” reminds us to consider how our choices affect the animals who share our world and to act with compassion.
In 2025, 78,856 animals were exported from Townsville, making our city Australia’s third‑largest live cattle export port.  So far this year around 34,000 cattle have left our port to be slaughtered offshore in countries with lower animal welfare standards than Australia, including the animals in the photo, who left Townsville for Vietnam onboard the Greyman Express on 12/09/26.
Australia has already agreed to end live sheep exports by sea. If it’s wrong for sheep, it’s wrong for cattle and other animals too. On World Animal Day, let’s call for a kinder, more compassionate future for all animals by sending a message to the PM https://www.pm.gov.au/contact#no-back asking for Australia to follow the UK and NZ and end the cruel live animal export trade.
